Over my years, I have seen the day after Thanksgiving change from a quiet hiatus, for visiting friends and relatives at the start of the December Holidays, into an ugly puppet-show of a holiday called Black Friday.

I have nothing novel to say about it.  I am going to work today.  I look forward to seeing patients; I did not ask for the “holiday” time even though I have sufficient vacation time accrued for it.

I am reviewing my e-mails, and generally unsubscribing from those services and advertisers who were concerned that I might miss Black Friday and spend my money elsewhere.  I am going to make money, and not spend it, today.
